Everybody occasionally suffers from bad breath [more accurately, their friends suffer from their bad breath]. If you suffer from it chronically you may have heard it being referred to as Halitosis. Halitosis or even average bad breath can be caused by a range of things, such as poor dental hygiene, gum disease, smoking, poor diet, or an increase in foods like onion and garlic. Sometimes our regular mouth hygiene just doesn’t cut it. The mouthwash you use probably doesn’t help you achieve what you need either, packed full of chemicals and offering us little reprieve from bad breath. The following is a recipe for a natural, homemade Cinnamon Mouthwash to help keep your breath fresher for longer. You’ll never spend money on commercial mouthwash again.

What you need

Homemade Mouth Wash that Works2 lemons

1 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon

1/2 to 1 teaspoon of baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons of honey

1 cup of warm water

A bottle that has a nice tight fitting lid

Lets stop here for a second and take a look at why we should be using these ingredients for our natural mouth wash.

Cinnamon assists our mouth in killing the bacteria that causes our smelly breath. It doesn’t just make you smell good momentarily like mint or peppermint. According to recent dental research there is a 50% reduction of mouth bacteria in those who chew cinnamon gum. Sign me up.

Honey even though you may get the bottom of the jar stickier than the the back of a sticker, it’s worth it because it has antibacterial properties. The most beneficial honey in Manuka from New Zealand. It is known to have 127 times more methylglyoxa in it. Which means 127 times the antimicrobial properties that ward of bacteria. As always, Organic is best.Homemade Mouth Wash that Works

Lemon Juice doesn’t only have a prominent citrus scent that makes you feel fresher, it can also help with warding off bad breath.

Baking Soda has been known to whiten your teeth and also helps wipe off bad bacteria.

Start by putting half a tablespoon of cinnamon in your jar and follow closely with juice from 2 lemons and half a teaspoon of honey. Add in a cup of nicely warmed water to help melt the honey and stir to mix well. That’s it !

Use this every time you think you need a little freshen up !
